It’s been such a busy wedding season so far, I’ve barely had time to catch breath, let alone blog. I’ve been meaning to update this series for a while, but a lot hard been going on with work and our move to a new house, etc. Luckily, we’re all settled in now and so I’ve had some time to go back and look through some of my images to choose a few favorites in order to get things back on track.

This week’s photo comes from a wedding I shot at Lake Lure in the mountains of North Carolina back in April. As with the majority of my work, this was totally unposed or unplanned. The bride and her bridesmaid were simply waiting for their cue to begin their walk to the altar, I saw where they were positioned with the fork in the paths and tired to balance it with the tree growing on the banks of the lake. It was a split second process in terms of seeing and compositing the shot, which then really came to life in post-production. For those that care, I edited this 100% in Adobe Lightroom by applying colour toning and dodging and burning before adding some light grain to give it that painting-like quality. Nothing too elaborate, but an image I really like and one that placed first in the Wedding Photographic Society’s quarterly image competition for the Artistic category.
