duke chapel wedding photography – brandy & gabe

Duke Chapel Weddings

We started out the 2018 wedding season with a real classic in all senses of the word. A Duke Chapel wedding is always a recipe for success, but add to that a fabulous bride and groom, other such gorgeous venues as 21c and The Cookery and a crack team of wedding professionals, and you really have something very special indeed on your hands.

I first met Brandy and Gabe about a year and a half ago at Toni and Kevin’s wedding in Winston-Salem, where Brandy was one of Toni’s bridesmaids. Brandy struck me then as a really fun person and so I was so really pleased when, a few weeks later, she phoned me to tell me she’d just got engaged and ask me if I might be available to photograph her wedding. She was in the very early stages of planning and so it was so flattering to know I was the first person she picked up the phone to call. I must be doing something right, I guess!

Anyway, fast forward to January 2018 and I found myself meeting up with my buddy and fellow Englishman, Richard Israel, to go and photograph what would turn out to be a pretty spectacular event. They say pictures speak louder than words, so I’ll shut up and let the images do the talking.  Before I do, though, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone that came together to make it happen. Without the fab team below, I would have had nothing to photograph:

Ceremony: Duke Chapel, Durham, NC | Reception: The Cookery, Durham, NC | Planner: Shawn Schindler Events, Raleigh, NC | Dress: Coastal Knot, Raleigh, NC | Bridesmaids Dresses: Bella Bridesmaids, Raleigh, NC | Menswear: Mens Wearhouse, Durham, NC | Florist: Expressions of Love Florist, Fuquay Varina, NC | Catering: The Catering Company of Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, NC | Cake: Maxie B’s, Greensboro, NC | Hair: Wedding Hair by Liz, Willow Spring, NC | Make-Up: Sharon Davis, MakeUp Artistry, Morrisville, NC | Band: The Band Punch, Raleigh, NC | MC: Spin, Raleigh, NC | Videographer: Morgan Scott Films, Raleigh, NC | Transportation: S&H Transportation, Durham, NC | Accommodations: 21c Hotel & Museum, Durham, NC | Rentals: American Party Rentals, Durham, NC & Themeworks, Raleigh, NC | Lighting: Simpsound, Durham, NC | Assistant Photographer: Richard Israel, Charlotte, NC

Without any further ado, here are my picks of the pics:

Mary Pat & Jonathan's wedding was such great fun to shoot. Everything from shooting the girls getting ready at The Durham Hotel right through to the reception at The Rickhouse was so full of joy and laughter, I had a smile on my face all day! After the first-look and ceremony at the always-lovely Duke Chapel, Mary Pat & Jonathan joined me on a quick shoot around downtown Durham. From there, we headed over to the reception where DJ Steve Stowe got the party started in style. As you'll see, everyone listed above really came together to make it a really beautiful day; my sincerest thanks to them all! A special thank you, of course, to ...

snowy duke chapel wedding photography – laura & cadman
Happy New Year, everyone! Hope you all had a good holiday season and got some quality R&R with your loved ones. Cristel, the kids, and I spent Christmas and New Year with our family down in Panama. We had a great time catching up with everyone and enjoyed our time in the sun by taking a trip to the amazing San Blas islands and lounging by the hotel pool drinking large quantities of Panamanian rum. Fun times! So, it was a bit of a proverbial ice cube down the back when I flew back into RDU for Laura & Cadman's Duke Chapel wedding, only to learn we were expecting up to 8" of snow that day. Yowzers! Luckily, everything on the big d ...

Wedding season is in full swing and it's been super busy around these parts, but I'm coming up for air with a quick blog post from Hannah and Andrew's beautiful spring wedding which took place at Duke Chapel and The Cotton Room just up the road in Durham, NC. My first stop for the day was the King's Daughter's Inn where Hannah, her family and her bridesmaids were getting ready. The Trinity Suite is such a great room to get ready in as it has a lovely sunroom with an abundance of natural light. From there we headed over to Duke Gardens for Hannah and Andrew's first look. It was threatening to rain and we had a back-up plan for the first loo ...
