We had Joe and his team for our wedding in Pinehurst NC in July 2022 and it was the easiest and best decision. We looked through a few different photographers and once we saw Joe’s work we did not even have to think. I loved how Joe really wanted to know what our wants and styles were but also very open about his style and making sure he was the right fit for us. On the day I really felt like he had my back with me being stressed (I’m the bride). He could tell I was stressed but kept reassuring me which was so helpful because everyone and everything moves so fast on the day. I know too that the stress would not turn out great in the pictures so again I appreciated him caring about his work but also the pictures we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Joe was the exact style we wanted and needed, his work captured the beauty, colors, and most importantly the emotions of the day. He and his assistant are great people and really improved the whole day and process. Such an amazing talent and person. Thank you Joe!

We first contacted Joe after seeing his work on Instagram. The quality of his work instantly caught our eyes! We were looking for a relaxed candid photography style that’s also classy and timeless! Joe’s work, along with his second shooters’ work (we were honored to have Richard on our day), is timeless, authentic, classy, and full of deep emotion. From the moment my husband and I saw Joe’s photographs, we knew we found the photographer for us. It was also so special that Joe is English and so is my husband.
Joe’s talent shines in almost any setting. Our first set of engagement photos was in the rain, but he made them look romantic, using the gothic setting of Duke chapel to draw out some lovely artistic shots. After our wedding postponement due to Covid, we opted for a second engagement session. The use of light during golden hour on UNC campus was beautiful!
On our wedding day (August 28, 2021), Joe captured the emotion of it all. He isn’t a cheesy or an overly staged photographer. He stays in the background to let the day unfold naturally. Of course when we did the more formal portraits, he was efficient and prepared. Our families adored his humor and kindness, as he makes everyone feel at ease in front of the camera. The worst part of hiring Joe was when the wedding was over, and the journey came to an end.

Trust me!! Booking Joe as our weddIng photographer was literally the hands down BEST decision of my entire wedding! Word of advice – he books up fast as he is highly sought after and recommended by many brides and wedding vendors/venues as one of the best wedding photographers, so get him if you can!
Personally, I don’t like attention, I’m a very shy person and he broke me out of my shell! He lead me every step of the way. He was so professional, never felt intrusive and made me feel beautiful in every moment.
For me, my wedding photos where everything. I am the bride that cared less about the actual event and everything about capturing my day in order to re-live the lasting memories for years to come. Joe did exactly that and more!
I told Joe I didn’t want the typical wedding photos. I wanted something unique, something different. And this is where his creative mind takes off. He is true artist! I told Joe I wanted to venture into woods in search of some scenic photos. Literally those were my ONLY directions. Joe did all the leg work from there. Prior to our wedding he ventured into woods to scout ideal spots, sent me locations and suggested times of day to make the most of sunlight. For the record I never asked him to do this. The level of effort and work he put into prepping for the event showed in the end results and made our day seamless!

In the year of covid, our daughter’s wedding plans continued to change and morph from a Spring wedding of 300 to a small wedding of 11 in mid summer. It takes a special type of person to remain flexible through all of those permutations and an especially talented artist to capture the beauty of the wedding which included only a few wedding traditions. Joe’s work is amazing – he really knows how to use light to create beautiful photographs that are like works of art! We received an astonishing number of photos: a good mix of color and b&w, and posed as well as many excellent candid shots. The payment process and the downloading of our images was easy and professional.
Joe was a delight to work with – he was very communicative during the planning process and respectful of the wedding party’s time during the actual event. Our venue was in Virginia, so a bit outside of his normal Raleigh area. Without me requesting it, he actually drove up to our venue a few weeks beforehand, to scope out the site! When I heard he did that, I knew we were in good hands.
His assistant, Erin, also took amazing photos and I feel like you can trust Joe 100% to hire quality assistant photographers. My only regret is not booking him for our rehearsal dinner and pre-ordering a wedding album from him! He truly is an excellent choice for your event!!!

When looking for a wedding photographer, we knew we wanted to work with a someone who would capture the day as it naturally happened, and not try to direct or pose every little moment. After speaking with Joe and looking at his portfolio, we knew instantly that his style and philosophy aligned with ours, and we hired him for our September 2019 wedding. We did not do engagement photos, so the first time I ever met Joe in person was on the wedding day! I knew his photos would be amazing, but he had never shot at our venue, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect.
Well, let me just say that Joe is an absolute master of wedding photography. There is so much that to being a wedding photographer: you have to keep track of schedules, manage personalities, adapt to the weather, capture every moment in changing conditions, edit thousands of photos, and deliver them in a short time span, among so much else. Joe did all of this, and more, with a level of professionalism and talent that I can’t even comprehend.
First, I’ll talk about the photos. Good god. The sheer number of stunning photos we got back, all of them beautifully edited, is astonishing. Literally thousands of photographs, each of them more beautiful than the last. On our wedding day, we let Joe do his thing and tried not to interject too many specific photo requests. I am so glad we did it that way, because Joe skipped the overdone Pinterest-inspired photos I thought I wanted, and instead shot an array of artistic, unique, and beautifully stylized images that genuinely capture the emotion (and craziness!) of our day. Moreover, Joe individually reviews and edits each photo, which adds so much to the finished product and really sets him apart from other photographers.
Aside from the photos, here are some more things I loved about working with Joe:
• He is prompt and direct in his communication, without fail. He is so on top of his shit, and it makes your life easier as bride/groom.
• He goes with the flow, but is assertive when he needs to be in order to keep things on track.
• He is on time, and he works his butt off the entire day. At one point I was genuinely concerned about how intensely he was working in the heat! Our guests even commented on how he seemed to be everywhere at once!
• He is very experienced and great at problem solving when you need it most. Rain delayed our ceremony and completely ate into our photo time, but he did such a great job of managing the changes and keeping things on track.
• Fabulous British sense of humor.
• The way that he delivers the photos to you is awesome. You can download them all from an online portal, which is an A+ on the user friendliness.
All in all, I just want to thank Joe from the bottom of my heart for how much he contributed to not just our wedding day, but our lives and memories. Our wedding was pretty wild with activity, and he captured every moment from family portraits to fireworks. We will cherish the photos forever. If you are reading this and considering a wedding photographer, I can’t recommend Joe enough.

Of course, his photos are stunning! I was originally interested because his photos of Duke Chapel are so incredible. He is an artist with a long veil! Joe also captured some wonderful photos at the reception and on the dance floor that I never expected would turn out so well!
He has a laid-back personality which is a much-needed calming influence during some very stressful times. I can’t thank him enough for putting up with a stressed-out bride, mothers/fathers, and an “energetic” bridal party ?. You can relax knowing Joe will create great shots!
Joe is really willing to make any photos you have in mind a reality. He made it very easy to have engagement photos where my husband and I met (small college in Massachusetts) and day-of photos at my parents’ house. I didn’t know that I wanted photos from the rehearsal until about one month beforehand – Joe was even flexible enough to shoot our rehearsal at the last minute! He will also send out a questionnaire before the big day to make sure you get the wedding photos that you want most.

I cannot emphasize enough what an exceptional job Joe and his assistant Richard did as our wedding photographers. Joe was the first vendor I booked after we had our date and location, which was super lucky as he is in high demand. His expertise in documentary and portrait style photography is immediately evident in his online portfolio, and completely sets him apart from other wedding photographers. His use of lighting and composition is simply STUNNING. When I called to inquire about his availability, Joe’s warmth and easy-going nature came through even over the phone. He met in person with my (now) husband and I, and sent us a detailed questionnaire to get to know us better and make sure he understood exactly what was most important to us to capture that day. Our other vendors were also excited to learn we hired Joe, as they enjoyed working with him previously. On the wedding day Joe and Richard were right on time and both had a great sense of humor that put everyone at ease. We wanted a full hour for our first look since we don’t have a lot of great photos of us as a couple. Joe scoped out sites all around the venue earlier that week to take full advantage of the time. We took a few formal family photos, mostly before the ceremony, so we were able to make it to most of our cocktail hour. The majority of the event I didn’t even notice he was there and was able to just relax and enjoy the time with my guests. Both Joe and Richard worked SO hard. They were down on the floor, up on chairs, constantly moving around the room, whatever was needed to get the most unique shots. They really did the beauty of our venue justice (The Cotton Room), but it is the intense emotion they captured from so many of our friends and family that we will truly treasure forever. Joe did a fantastic job editing the close to 900 photos he shared with us. The turnaround was impressive (6 weeks), especially considering this was peak wedding season and included a holiday weekend. Bottom line, it is SO critical to hire a wedding photographer with a lot of experience in the particular style that draws you in. For us, we wanted a more artistic and authentic representation of our day and there was no question Joe was the best choice for this. We are giddy about the results and can’t wait to share the photos with everyone with love.

I am the kind of bride who puts a lot of time and effort into researching each and every vendor till I find a perfect match. I rank my wedding vendors in an excel spreadsheet and Joe was my number one choice in the photographer category. My husband and I planned our wedding on a moderate budget but we knew we had to prioritize photography and videography because years from now, photos and videos will be the only physical things we have left with to remember our wedding day by. One of my husband’s groomsmen who is a wedding photographer recommended Joe and said he was the best wedding photographer in the area. When we saw Joe’s photos on his website and instagram, we knew we had to book him fast! Joe was so accommodating when my husband and I wanted our first look to be at a different location. He reached out to the location to ask for permission to take pictures there. On our wedding day, Joe drove me while his assistant, Erin drove my husband to our first look location. It was a pretty warm summer day and I am sure they were exhausted taking pictures for hours in the sun but both of them stayed enthusiastic and excited throughout the night. Joe and Erin were very dedicated, professional and easy to get along with. We were able to see our first photo on Joe’s instagram and thought it looks stunning. We highly recommend Joe and Erin and we truly appreciate all of their help on our big day.

Pretty much right after booking our venue, my husband and I went through their list of recommended photographers because we knew that having amazing photographs from our wedding was a high priority for us. As we reviewed all of the photographers’ websites, Joe emerged as the clear frontrunner because of how beautifully he leverages natural light in his work and how nicely he captures genuine emotions. Meeting him on a video call further reinforced that he was a great fit for us because he is down-to-earth and has a great sense of humor but also takes the quality of his work very seriously. Joe ended up doing both our engagement photographs and our day-of wedding photography. He has a very well-organized process for gathering information about couples’ styles and the types of photographs that they want leading up to the wedding through distributing periodic and detailed online forms, which made communicating everything to him super easy for us. Joe also set aside some time to grab a drink with us before our engagement photographs and get to know us, which was an excellent idea and helped further refine his understanding of relationship dynamic, which we feel really contributed to the quality of our photos. We don’t have formal photographs taken of us very often and knowing that that is the case with most people who get engaged and married, he was also awesome at making us feel comfortable and providing clear and helpful instructions to us about how we should stand, pose, and interact to get the best shots. On the day of our engagement pictures, his commitment to getting the lighting perfect and varying it for different settings was also seriously impressive– we moved around quite a bit and the variety of the resulting work product was lovely. On the day of our wedding, it was raining on and off and Joe was super flexible and patient with the way in which the circumstances threw our original schedule off. In the end, we got a bunch of stunning rain-free photos and also got a few bonus artsy ones that featured a bit of rain, which we loved. The wedding party echoed our opinion that Joe was wonderful to work with and made everyone feel so comfortable, which contributed to the overall positive vibe of the day. The pictures that Joe delivered from our wedding were the perfect balance of traditional group portraits, shots of the decor and details that we valued capturing after having spent so much time wedding planning, and a lot of great candids. He captured my desired aesthetic of a little bit of glamour, romance, and tradition and a lot of fun in the most gorgeous way. Long story short, hiring Joe was a no-brainer for us and a choice that we would make again and again if we could do things all over! :)

Joe not only captured our wedding day with impeccable talent, his work actually tells our story as a couple.
He made us feel comfortable from the very beginning and took the time upfront to get to know who we are as individuals and as a couple, as well as our expectations for our photos. He was patient when we didn’t know where to put our hands and taught us how not to be super awkward. He even made it fun to be all dressed up and taking photos while sweating bullets on a typical North Carolina summer day.
Watching Joe do his thing was actually something I got a few moments to sit back and watch on our wedding day. He works tirelessly to find just the right angle, backdrop, and light. His passion is evident in the service he provides to his clients and in the final products that he creates.
