Carolina Inn Weddings

Hair and Make-Up: Britt Cregan, Raleigh, NC
Wedding Ceremony: Orange United Methodist Church, Chapel Hill, NC
Reception: The Carolina Inn, Chapel Hill, NC
Band: The Headliners, Chapel Hill, NC

Allison and Matthew make such a great couple. You can instantly tell when you meet people whether or not their chemistry is going to make for great photo opportunities and this was definitely the case on this occasion. You could see right from the outset just how much they are into each other by how naturally they interacted. These are a few of my faves from their day.

Amazing photos! I bet they are very happy. Can you share what lens you used to get the wide angles?
Joe 17:56 October 6, 2011
Hi Heather, Thanks for the great feedback! The vast majority of the super wide shots were taken with a Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM. There are a couple of fisheye shots in there too, which were taken with the Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye lens. All full frame on a Canon 5D Mark II. Hope that helps. Cheers, Joe

Sidney and Andrew's wedding marked my first return to Duke Chapel since it reopened its doors earlier in the summer. Well, I'd stopped in on the odd occasion to for shoots and to check out progress while it was being renovated. I'd also been back with Sidney, her mum and sister a few weeks earlier when I shot Sidney's sunset bridal  session (the images at the top and bottom of this post are from that session). But this was my first time shooting a full wedding since April 2015. Needless to say, I was really pleased to be back in what has to be one of my favorite venues to photograph in.  To have such an occasion backed up with a reception at ...

carolina inn weddings ~ image of the week: no 25
This week's image of the bride getting her make-up done offers a nice contrast to my last post and comes from a wedding I photographed last weekend at The Carolina Inn just down the road in Chapel Hill. If you've read my blog before, you may well be aware that I really don't like to direct the wedding day at all, but just let it happen and focus on documenting it honestly. With this image, however, I did provide a little bit of direction in order to get the most from the environment we were in. What was the direction? I closed the other blinds in the room and moved the chair 90 degrees and to the side so the bride was lit with some beautif ...
