raleigh durham wedding photographer – the king’s daughters inn

Durham Wedding Photographer

I was honoured to be asked recently by the King’s Daughters Inn to provide the photograph for their artwork in this year’s Southern Bride and Groom magazine.

For those of you that don’t know it, the KDI is a beautiful boutique Bed & Breakfast located by the Duke University campus in Durham, NC. It was originally built in the 1920’s, but fully refurbished in 2009. It’s a place I really enjoy shooting in given its character and abundance of natural light and I can wholeheartedly recommend it for people looking for a more intimate venue for their wedding and other events.

I’m looking forward to working with Samantha and the team there again in 2012. Thanks again guys!

For the blog post corresponding to the shoot the ad was taken from, please check out Candis & Terrell’s wedding here.

2017 finished in style with Jill & John's fab wedding in Durham NC. Regular readers of the blog will probably remember Jill from her beautiful Rose Hill Plantation bridal session, which was one of my favorite portrait sessions of the year. She made such a stunning bride and was such good fun to be with, I was really looking forward to the wedding day! As a regular Durham wedding photographer, it was great to close out the year at such iconic Durham venues as Immaculate Conception Church, Duke Gardens and the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University. Before that, though, and while Erin was photographing John and the guys, I met up with J ...

I closed out 2018 right back at the very spot I began the year last January: the fab 21c Museum Hotel in downtown Durham, NC. Back then it was for Brandy & Gabe's big day, this time it was for Kortne & Terry's 21c Museum Hotel wedding, which just happened to fall on New Year's Eve. So I saw in the New Year with this fabulous couple and the party was still raging when I left around 1am. Kortne & Terry had mentioned they wanted a Gatsby theme for their wedding and the vintage vibe of the night, along with the classic look of Kortne's dress and Terry's white tuxedo jacket definitely came through in the images. Big congrats and tha ...

raleigh wedding photographer – image of the week: no. 6
When I'm out shooting, a lot of my time is spent looking around at my environment and trying to work out how to take what I am looking at and make the very best picture of it I can. That may sound pretty obvious, but as someone who has been hired to document a very important day, the temptation a lot of the time is to just take pictures and more pictures to make sure you are covering every single moment possible. You have to make a conscious effort to slow down and take in your surroundings whilst you're working away. This week's image is a case in point about how it can really be rewarding to take a moment to look around and take a few ca ...
