wedding photographers in raleigh nc ~ engagement session for jessica and bo

With the season over for us Raleigh wedding photographers, I’m already looking forward to what 2013 has to offer! First up will be Jessica and Bo, whose Carolina Inn wedding I will be shooting in a few weeks. Their Chapel Hill engagement session took place one grey Sunday morning in November, where we met at the Carolina Inn, had a leisurely brunch at the Carolina Coffee Shop where we had a chat and got to know each other a little better, and then headed out to take pictures around the area.

It was a fun-packed and eventful session where we laughed, cried and I got ambushed by a rather large and playful Irish red setter. What can I say? We all have to suffer for out art. Thankfully, I came out unscathed and so did the pooch.

Jessica and Bo have a lot of fun together and that definitely showed through in the photos. Again, direction here was minimal; I prefer to take photos of people as they really are versus setting up cheesy poses that look uncomfortable for everyone involved. This is Jessica and Bo as they really are: fun, happy and in love.

Here are a few of my faves from their sesh:

downtown raleigh engagement session ~ lisa and mark
A week or so ago, I spent a couple of hours on a Saturday evening hanging out with Lisa and Mark in downtown Raleigh for their engagement session. We had a couple of drinks in The Oxford (I need to keep it real and English) to catch up and loosen up a little before heading out for a walk around Fayetteville Street. It really is a great area with a lot of unique nooks and crannies to take pictures in, as well as the lovely State Capitol building, which provided the backdrop to some of our images. After a pretty crappy day of rain and thunder, we were treated to a lovely spring evening of sunshine. That, combined with Lisa and Mark's chemis ...
chapel hill engagement session ~ akiko and jordan
A couple of days back, I met up with Akiko and Jordan bright and early at Jack Sprat's coffee shop in downtown Chapel Hill. We met up early to avoid the heat and get the best light, and after a double espresso and a chat, I was ready to rock n' roll. Akiko and Jordan were a really fun couple to work with and their chemistry really showed when they got together in front of the camera. Both UNC alumni, the locations around the grounds of the campus had special meaning to them, but it is a really fabulous place to shoot given the beautiful architecture and lush greenery everywhere. As always with my engagement shoots, we took things slow ...
nyc engagement session – lara & juice
A couple of weekends ago, I flew up to NYC for an engagement shoot with Lara & Juice. We met up for drinks in their Greenwich Village apartment and went for a walk in the evening sunlight to take pictures around their home. From there, we headed up to the roof of their building to take some shots of the Manhattan skyline at dusk. As always, it's more about capturing the personalities and stories of my clients than posing and making up some kind of fantasy shoot so we kept things pretty relaxed and fun. Here are just a few of my faves from the session.
