duke chapel weddings ~ bridal session for claire

Bridal Session

Claire and Zach got spliced back in early June and I’m looking forward to sharing some photos of their big day very soon. What a top day that was!!

Claire lives out of town so one evening a couple of days before the wedding, we got together at Duke Chapel to take some portraits of her in her dress. As you can see, the weather, combined with the beautiful gothic architecture of the chapel made it a perfect evening for some moody and dramatic images.

Here is a quick selection of a few of my faves. Thanks to Claire for being so game and to Katie for being my little helper!

A full blog post of the wedding will be coming soon!!!

Have a great 4th of July everyone!

Cheers,

Joe

The bridal session is a very Southern tradition indeed, but one I do enjoy, even as an Englishman! Whether it be a separate shoot as part of a dress-rehearsal for the bride, or some time taken on the adding day itself, it's really nice to take some time with the bride to get some pictures of her in her wedding dress. The shot above was actually taken at a recent wedding in Cincinnati between the wedding ceremony and reception. We had about 5 minutes during the cocktail hour to take some photos of the bride, which isn't much, but that is sometimes all we get to work with. As you can see though, the autumn colours combined really well with t ...

duke gardens wedding photography – elizabeth’s bridal session
Back in the early spring, I spent an afternoon with the lovely Elizabeth shooting her bridal photos ahead of her wedding this summer. When Elizabeth had originally contacted me, she was looking to do a session that would allow her to pay homage to her late mother, whose veil she would be wearing on her wedding day. We took that concept and ran with it as the base for the session. When we met up, I also found Elizabeth's elegant look to be reminiscent of a 50's film star, so that played into the mood and feel of some of the images. Incorporating these themes along with the spring colours into the session, I think we came away with something pr ...

duke chapel wedding photography – sara’s bridal session
Sara & Ross tied the knot in a truly beautiful wedding at Duke Chapel this past Saturday and I'm looking forward to sharing some images from their gorgeous day really soon. In the meantime, I'm pleased to be able to share some photos from Sara's recent bridal photography session. This was a fun but challenging shoot as it started raining pretty heavily just a few minutes into the session and then rained off and on for the duration. This meant that we were restricted to shooting under cover a lot of the time, which forced me to think differently and get creative to obtain the widest variety of images possible whilst keeping Sara and her be ...
