After shooting over 300 weddings, I know most couples aren’t looking to spend their wedding day posing for photos.
They want someone who can keep things relaxed, blend into the background when needed, and step in when it matters.
My approach is about 90% documentary photojournalism — observing rather than directing — so the day is photographed as it actually unfolds, not as a staged version of it.
For the other 10% or so, I will step in to create a set of natural, well-crafted portraits, and organise the family photos quickly and without fuss so everyone can get back to enjoying the day. Some couples prefer things very quick and relaxed, others enjoy a bit more time and direction — I’m happy to work either way.
Film has a unique character — something digital can approach, but not fully replicate. For those who appreciate that difference, medium format and 35mm film can be incorporated as an additional option alongside digital coverage.
