abbi hits 18 months

Portraiture

Back when I got organised and officially kicked off “Joe Payne Photography”, I was really pleased to get an email from Ashley, whose daughter Abbi used to be in the same group at daycare as Charlotte. Abbi recently turned 18 months, so we spent an hour early on Sunday morning walking around Zionsville. It was probably the hottest day I have ever had to work in, but it was a gorgeous morning and Abbi did brilliantly despite the heat. I hope you like the pics!

One of my favourite parts of the wedding day to cover is the period ahead of the ceremony when the bride is getting ready. This is a really interesting time for me to experience as I don't wear make up (the 80's were a long time ago) and my hair stopped being an issue in the late 90's, so I really do find this preparation period both fascinating to observe and enjoyable to photograph and document. I also really like the quintessential femininity of the process; the chance to enter this world and see the bride interacting with her closest friends and family members at a very emotional moment in their lives is really very special indeed. It's a ...

Back in early October, I got the chance to hang out with Max and take his senior pictures for him. It was a really nice evening and I had scouted out a few locations for us to hit up, so we headed out and got the job done. There are some great old abandoned redbrick warehouses out on 16th Street in Indianapolis, right by the railway on what is now the Monon Trail. We took a few pictures there and in the playing fields next door before heading downtown to the area by Meridian and South by the Slippery Noodle and then across to Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Colts, and then back again to the tunnels under the railway there. Max was typically ...

This past weekend, I got the chance to go and hang out with this little stunner. She was certainly a natural in front of the camera, which certainly made my life a lot easier. In fact, the only problem I really had was to get her to stop posing! A career in show business beckons I feel!
