raleigh wedding photographer ~ bridal session for katie

Bridal Session

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of documenting Katie and Jeremy’s beautiful wedding in Wake Forest, NC. I’ll be posting some wedding photography from their big day in a few weeks. In the meantime, though, here are a few of my favourite shots from Katie’s bridal session a few weeks back.

It was a pretty cloudy day, but we had a lot of fun taking pictures around Katie’s parents’ home and on the grounds of the seminary in Wake Forest. When the sun did come out for 5 minutes, we definitely made the most of it!

Thanks to Katie and her family for such a fun day. I look forward to posting pictures from Katie’s wedding soon!

My first love, when originally starting out in the wedding photography business, was wedding photojournalism. I was a bit of a purist back then, so documenting moments using available light was really what made me tick and I paid little attention to portraiture and even less to posing, using artificial lighting, etc. But I am driven to always work on and improve my skillset to be able to produce images in a wider range of conditions and styles, especially in the area of portraiture. martie ~ brier creek bridal session
I recently had the pleasure of photographing Martie and John's wedding at Brier Creek Country Club. The bridal session took place in mid-September on an unseasonably cold day. However, Martie looked great and we had a fantastic shoot in and around the ballroom. Martie was even brave enough to venture outside for a few minutes! Here's a baker's dozen of my faves from the day. Wedding pictures coming soon...

duke chapel weddings ~ bridal session for claire
Claire and Zach got spliced back in early June and I'm looking forward to sharing some photos of their big day very soon. What a top day that was!! Claire lives out of town so one evening a couple of days before the wedding, we got together at Duke Chapel to take some portraits of her in her dress. As you can see, the weather, combined with the beautiful gothic architecture of the chapel made it a perfect evening for some moody and dramatic images. Here is a quick selection of a few of my faves. Thanks to Claire for being so game and to Katie for being my little helper! A full blog post of the wedding will be coming soon!!! Have ...
