As a Raleigh headshot photographer, I often get asked if I do headshots, and the quick answer is “Yes!”. It’s actually something I really enjoy and have been doing more and more of them over the last few months. I have packages for people who want to just come in and out in a few minutes, but I also do studio and on-location work for people who would like a bit of diversity to their session with multiple looks, outfit changes, etc.

Stephanie originally contacted me to photograph her wedding, but, unfortunately, I was already booked for her date. So I was really flattered when she reached back out to me in order to do a corporate portrait session together. Stephanie is a sales professional at Cisco and also is an adjunct professor at North Carolina Central University, so I wanted to make sure we caught a selection of images that portrayed the different sides of her personality. She comes across as elegant, thoughtful and self-confident, but also sweet and fun with the most amazing smile. I wanted these facets to come through in the images and I think we did a pretty good job!

Here’s how Stephanie herself describes the shoot:

“I’ve wanted to shoot with Joe for years — he seemed to beautifully capture moments and somehow embody the personalities of those he shot.

During my session, what I loved was his ability to capture my vision so much more beautifully than I was able to articulate. I’m still over the moon with his consultative approach, thoughtfulness and of course the output. My headshots are classic, timeless…and a bit mysterious.”

For the session, I put Stephanie in touch with the talented Krista Massey for hair and makeup. Stephanie then brought a range of different clothes we played with a bit to get some variety into the images. I also experimeted with different cameras, lenses and lighting setups to spice things up a bit. I actually took delivery of a new camera in the middle of the shoot and I was pleased to christen it with such an amazing subject as Stephanie.

With such an amazing subject, it was really difficult narrowing things down for the blog, but here are a combination of some of my faves with some of Steph’s.
