A vibrant Indian wedding is a beautiful symphony of deep-rooted traditions, explosive energy, and intimate family connections. Mounica and Eshaan’s spectacular multi-day celebration in Raleigh was the perfect embodiment of this harmony. Spanning half a week of beautiful pre-wedding rituals, a high-energy outdoor Baraat, a sacred ceremony, and a breathtakingly elegant reception evening, every moment was a testament to their love and the coming together of two families.
As a documentary wedding photographer, capturing the raw emotion, playful interactions, and magnificent colours of their celebration at The Pavilion at Carriage Farm and Donovan Manor was an absolute honor.
The Mehndi Celebrations
The multi-day festivities kicked off beautifully with the intimate artistry of the Mehndi celebrations. First, Mounica sat surrounded by her closest loved ones at the bride’s home as intricate, detailed henna designs were carefully applied to her hands and arms.
Following the bridal henna, the celebration continued with a second, high-energy Mehndi event hosted at the groom’s house. This gathering allowed both sides of the family to come together early in the week, sharing food, laughter, and blessings as everyone admired the stunning henna artwork marking the official start of the wedding journey.
The Nalugu Ceremony
Next, the celebrations transitioned into deep family traditions with the bright warmth of the Nalugu ceremony. Dressed in coordinated, festive green attire and surrounded by vibrant yellow and orange floral backdrops, the couple shared playful, candid moments. Family members gathered close to apply sacred turmeric paste, offering their heartfelt blessings and love ahead of the big day.
The Sangeet Night
The energy then shifted into high gear for the spectacular Sangeet night! The venue was transformed with rich jewel tones, elegant chandeliers, and a stunning velvet lounge setup. The evening was a true showcase of music and movement, featuring perfectly synchronised family performances and dynamic, high-energy choreography on stage that left the entire room cheering under the dramatic lights.
Wedding Morning Elegance & A Garden First Look at Carriage Farm
The official wedding day morning arrived with a quiet, beautiful anticipation. Mounica looked radiantly regal as she was assisted into her exquisite red and gold silk wedding sari, completing her look with stacked gold jewelry and fresh flowers intricately woven into her hair.
Before the crowds arrived for the main event, Mounica and Eshaan met on the secluded, sunlit wooded paths of The Pavilion at Carriage Farm for their first look. The cinematic build-up—from the quiet sound of her approaching steps to the pure, unbridled joy on Eshaan’s face as he turned around—provided some of the most genuinely touching, timeless portraits of the entire day.
The High-Energy Baraat Procession
The tranquility of the morning quickly gave way to the exhilarating chaos of the Baraat. Eshaan, sporting a magnificent red turban and sunglasses, led a fiercely energetic procession of family and friends dancing their way to the pavilion. Guided by the thumping rhythm of a live dhol drummer, the crowd transformed the outdoor grounds into a massive celebration.
In a beautiful twist on tradition, Mounica joined the outdoor crowd to share an epic dance with her groom. Amidst the swirling colours and flying hands, a deeply powerful moment came when Eshaan was joyfully greeted and blessed by his grandmother—a beautiful documentary milestone in a sea of pure party energy.
The Mandap Ceremony at The Pavilion at Carriage Farm
The formal ceremony took place under the beautifully adorned pavilion tent, anchored by a magnificent mandap draped in lush white florals and hanging brass bells. The rituals began behind the Antarpat—the sacred cloth barrier—separating the couple until the perfect ceremonial moment.
Once the curtain fell, a series of deeply symbolic South Indian rituals unfolded. The couple playfully performed the Jeelakarra Bellam, placing sacred paste on each other’s heads, and later showered one another in a cascade of turmeric-dyed rice during a spectacular Talambralu climax. From the quiet intensity of family hands covering the bride’s eyes to the pure fun of blowing confetti and hunting for a hidden ring in a brass vessel, the ceremony perfectly balanced sacred solemnity with lighthearted family joy.
To conclude the rituals, Mounica and Eshaan stepped to the edge of the mandap to look up and point together at the sacred twin stars (Arundhati and Vashistha), symbolizing a lifetime of devotion, before gathering their families for formal portraits under the canopy.
Evening Elegance & Romantic Portraits at Donovan Manor
Following the ceremony, the celebration transitioned to the stately elegance of Donovan Manor for the evening reception. Guests were welcomed by a gorgeous custom lavender and blue floral welcome sign, hinting at the sophisticated palette shift for the night.
Before heading indoors, Mounica and Eshaan took advantage of the stunning estate grounds for a romantic portrait session. Dressed in her spectacular embellished blue and silver lehenga and his dapper navy velvet tuxedo, the newlyweds strolled through blooming rose gardens, shared tender embraces in the tall ornamental grasses, and walked hand-in-hand across the sweeping, sunlit fields with the historic white estate house framing the background.
A Starry Night Grand Finale
Inside the ballroom at Donovan Manor, luxury tablescapes awaited the guests, meticulously styled with black linens, gold accents, and endless rows of vibrant blue and pink roses under a canopy of twinkling fairy lights.
The evening kicked off with incredible energy as the couple took to the ballroom stage. Set against a magnificent deep-blue starry backdrop, they executed a flawlessly choreographed first dance, ending in a dramatic, show-stopping dip. The rest of the night was a blur of heartfelt toasts, beautiful family interactions, and a packed dance floor illuminated by vibrant party lights. It was the ultimate, unforgettable ending to an extraordinary wedding celebration.
