raleigh portrait photographer – jackie’s maternity session

Portraiture

One of the best things about my job is being there with my clients to document the story of their family as it grows in the years after the wedding. Just over two years ago, I shot Jackie & Rob’s engagement session, followed by Jackie’s bridal session in January of 2016 and their gorgeous wedding photographs the month after that. So I was really thrilled when Jackie and Rob reached out to me to let me know they are expecting their first child and I was looking forward to seeing them again for their portrait session celebrating Jackie’s maternity a few weeks ago. We started out by taking a relaxed stroll around JC Raulston arboretum before heading back to catch the last remnants of sunset in the fall foliage outside their beautiful new home a few miles away. Cristel and I are looking forward to seeing them again here in a few weeks and meeting the new addition to the family when Cristel takes care of their newborn baby photography!

Here are just a few favourites from our fab session. I know Rob and I are biased, but doesn’t Jackie look absolutely stunning!??

The final part of my triple-header of shoots last Sunday took me to my old stamping grounds in Cincinnati, OH. Ault Park to be precise. This place has a lot of great memories for me, including a certain office party almost 10 years ago where far too much alcohol was consumed and I ruined a perfectly good tuxedo. Anyway, if you'd told me back then I would be working as a photographer now, I would have probably told you (in a slurred English accent) you were slightly barking. But so it is, and so it was that I spent last Sunday evening dodging the storms and taking photographs of Lily and Josie and their mum and dad, Christine and Nick. The ...

Monday was a brilliant day for me as I got to follow up a really fun engagement shoot with a family session with my good friends Clay and Emily and their son Evan. The evening's events started off at Hap's Irish Pub, which was really apt as it was there that I first met up with Clay and Emily Bond almost 11 years ago. Clay and I used to work together and when I was shipped in from London with my old work friends Sean Grant (and his wife Jo) and Tracey McNabb, Clay and Emily were the people that set about making us feel welcome and essentially lining up entertainment for us on the weekends. I think one day that October, we watched a football m ...

Last week marked another first for me as I got the chance to hang out with the brilliant Rachel Vanoven of Rachel Vanoven Photography on her cousin Savannah's senior shoot. Growing up in England as I did, the whole 'senior' thing was something I never experienced in high school. Back then, if anyone had ever told me they were going to shoot a senior, I would have thought some old age pensioner was going to be in pretty serious trouble. Anyway, I met up with Rachel, Savannah and her mum Lynda out at Fort Harrison and we spent the next hour or so taking pictures in different locations. It was great fun and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It als ...
