raleigh portrait photographer – jackie’s maternity session

Portraiture

One of the best things about my job is being there with my clients to document the story of their family as it grows in the years after the wedding. Just over two years ago, I shot Jackie & Rob’s engagement session, followed by Jackie’s bridal session in January of 2016 and their gorgeous wedding photographs the month after that. So I was really thrilled when Jackie and Rob reached out to me to let me know they are expecting their first child and I was looking forward to seeing them again for their portrait session celebrating Jackie’s maternity a few weeks ago. We started out by taking a relaxed stroll around JC Raulston arboretum before heading back to catch the last remnants of sunset in the fall foliage outside their beautiful new home a few miles away. Cristel and I are looking forward to seeing them again here in a few weeks and meeting the new addition to the family when Cristel takes care of their newborn baby photography!

Here are just a few favourites from our fab session. I know Rob and I are biased, but doesn’t Jackie look absolutely stunning!??

Yesterday, I had the immense pleasure of sharing my morning with little Abigail and her mum. Abbey was in a great mood, so we got some really nice shots. The only problem was cutting the number of photos down to a manageable number to edit!

raleigh wedding photographer – image of the week: no. 13
I've spoken before about the use of light and it is something I try to focus on with my work, especially during portrait sessions and the times of the day when we have some time to actually go out and "make some pictures". On the wedding day itself, however, time is normally a precious resource and it's not always easy to conjure up nice images out of thin air. There are many factors to work with: light, trying to work out how to make the most of the environment you are in, distractions from the wedding party itself, etc. This week's image is a good example of how just a little bit of legwork and thought can help find a great spot to work wit ...

One of the first people to contact me when I finally got round to getting this gig up and running 'officially' was Jenny; a friend of mine from my time working at First Advantage. Jenny is such a fun and carefree character to be with, that I was really looking forward to taking pics with her and her family. We had to put the shoot back a couple of weeks given the recent storms, but I couldn't have asked for a better day to spend some time with them at the gardens of the IMA. Men and boys usually approach a photography session with all the enthusiasm of receiving a kick in the goolies, but Chris and the lads were on top form despite the heat a ...
